Who are your Representatives?


 The Ocean Beach Planning Board consists of 14 elected members; two representatives from each of
the seven districts which comprise the Ocean Beach Planning District. We are ALL VOLUNTEERS and
are not employees of the City of San Diego.

District 1
Nancy Taylor-

 

Ronson Shamoun- Mr. Shamoun is a true San Diegan.  He was born and raised in San Diego and completed all of his undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate studies at the University of San Diego.  He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Accountancy at USD. He currently holds a Juris Doctor and a Master in Laws in Taxation degree from USD.  Mr. Shamoun was one of the founding fathers of the USD Chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. Mr. Shamoun’s ties to the local community extend to multiple business ventures throughout San Diego County.  He is the owner of two Subway franchises in Ocean Beach, OB Quik Stop Market, Café Bella as well as Newport Quik Stop.  Mr. Shamoun, through his sizable portfolio of real estate and business investments, has developed a keen sensibility to the legal needs of business owners and investors alike. 

District 2
Amanda Lopez-

Landry Watson- Mr. Landry Watson is committed to the values of service and governance of the Ocean Beach community and has been a member of the OBPB for 3years.  For the Ocean Beach Planning Board, Mr. Watson currently serves on the Brighton Street Comfort Station Repair Committee, the Historical Survey Committee and the Sunset Cliffs Traffic Calming Committee in addtion to the Ocean Beach Community Plan Update Committee and Ocean Beach Recreational Council.  Mr. Watson graduated from Texas A&M University with a B.S. in Construction Management and works for a San Diego General Contractor in the construction industry.  Prior to that, he served in the United States Navy for 11 years and is a decorated veteran of the Global War on Terror.  A tireless advocate for green building, sustainability and energy efficiency; he continuously promotes legislation and projects in the OB community that will create balance between the built environment and our ecosystem and served for the City of San Diego on the Energy Efficiency Community Block Grant Committee.  Besides promoting a sustainable future for the community, Historical Resources and the preservation of the established character of the OB community are his primary concerns.  Contact Landry at landrywatson.obpb@yahoo.com with questions or concerns about District 2 or the OB community.

District 3
Giovanni Ingolia - Mr. Ingolia has been a resident of Ocean Beach since 2001 and a member of the Ocean Beach Planning Board since 2006.  He holds a B.S. in Geography with an emphasis in Urban Planning from Illinois State University (1996).  and a Professional Certificate in Urban Planning, from the University of California, San Diego (2009).  His professional background has included work in the Land Entitlement Process, Geographic Information Systems and Cartography.  He has served on the following Ocean Beach PB Sub-Committees: OB Planning Board by-laws update committee, Pedi-cab committee, Brighton Street Comfort Station committee and Sunset Cliff traffic committee. 

 

Heather Kwiatkowski-  Since 2003, Ms. Kwiatkowski has worked in environmental consulting and planning in Southern California, specializing in cultural resources.  Ms. Kwiatkowski received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology from the University of Tennessee and a Masters in Anthropology from San Diego State University.

District 5
George Murphy- Mr. Murphy has been a representative since March of 2002. He has also represented the OBPB with liaison work to several other local groups:  The OB Crime Prevention Committee; the San Diego River Coalition; Friends of the OB Library, the Ocean Beach Precise Plan 'Rewrite' Committee, and OB Community Development Committee. Mr. Murphy is a retired educator:  He was a Founding Faculty Member of the Wayne County Community College in Detroit in 1970 before moving to San Diego in 1971.  He has a BS in Business from Ball State University and a MS in Guidance and Counseling from the University of Michigan.  Other educational positions were completed here in San Diego before becoming a Founding Faculty Member, in the Counseling Department, at Cuyamaca College in the Grossmont/Cuyamaca College District in El Cajon, CA.  He retired in 2002 with Faculty Emeritus Status.  He is involved on several committees with his church (Metropolitan Community Church of San Diego) and the Center for Social Services (the Gay Center) in Hillcrest where he was a Founding Member in 1973.  He is also active in local Democratic politics.  George moved to OB in 1977 where he owns, lives in, and manages a 5-unit apartment building on Cable Street. 

 Robert Sullivan-

District 6
Jane Gawronski- Dr. Jane Gawronski is a retired educator with a Bachelor’s degree from State College at Boston, a Master’s degree from the University of Idaho and a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota.   Dr. Jane served as superintendent of the West Covina Unified School District and the Escondido Union High School District.  She was named California Superintendent of the year in 1997.  After her first retirement (from EUHSD) she worked at San Diego State University.   Dr. Jane has co-authored several articles and texts in mathematics, her favorite subject.  She moved to Ocean Beach, the first time in 1974 and returned in 1998.  Maintaining the neighborhood ambiance of the OB community is her highest priority.

 Tom Gawronski-

 

District 7
Brittany Taylor- Ms. Taylor has been active in the Ocean Beach Community since 2006. She has served as a district representative for two years and is the current chairperson of the planning board. Ms. Taylor serves as the Ocean Beach representative on the citywide Community Planners Committee. She also serves on the Precise Plan, Brighton Street Comfort Repair, and Election subcommittees. She graduated from the University of California San Diego with a B.A. in Political Science.   

  Michael Taylor- Mr. Taylor has been active in the real estate industry as a contractor, a developer, a manager and a broker for almost two decades. Since 1986 Mr. Taylor has founded and managed several real estate and construction companies. Mr. Taylor is licensed in the State of California as a general engineering contractor and a general building contractor. He is also licensed as a real estate broker in California and Colorado. Mr. Taylor received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of San Diego and his Master of Management degree from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
